Cape Town
DAY 1-4Cape Town, also known as the ‘Mother City’ is the hub of South Africa. Being the first colonised area of South Africa, it is rich in history, and many cultures and ethnic backgrounds have blended together to create an intricately beautiful fusion of hospitality, art and people – the perfect place to start your Golf with The Collection tour.
In the upscale neighbourhood of Constantia, your trip starts off strong with four nights at The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel & Spa which boasts unforgettable culinary experiences that are an absolute must at their on-site restaurant The Conservatory – renowned as one of South Africa’s top restaurants. Their Fresh Wellness Spa offers signature pampering treatments to the lush backdrop of their gardens; two pools, a gym, and a tennis court. The Cellars-Hohenort is found in the historically rich Constantia Valley, aka Cape Town’s Vineyard and is a mere fifteen minutes from the V&A Waterfront and the city centre. Cape Town is overflowing with exciting and lavish activities on offer which can be booked directly with the front desk throughout your stay.
After settling in, your first round of golf is at the incredible Steenberg GC. This Peter Mackotvich-designed course is set amongst estate vineyards with views of the mountains and sea that offer golfers unique challenges on each hole. After a pleasant morning of walking the fairways in this premier estate, we recommend heading to the Steenberg Vineyard for a wine tasting followed by lunch served at the award-winning Bistro sixteen82.
A mere 45-minute drive will take you to the beautiful Franschhoek valley. This small valley is home to some of South Africa’s most famous wine estates producing wine since the 17th century. Complete with fascinating stories about Franschhoek’s history, wine, and culture, the Franschhoek’s wine-tram will spoil you with one-of-a-kind food and wine pairings including breakfast and sabrage, lunch, and dessert. Starting your day at the underground Haute Cabrière to the magnificent Pyrenes à La Motte Restaurant and ending with an exceptional view over the valley at Dieu Donne, the Franschhoek wine tram is the ultimate experience.
On the Val de Vie Estate, Pearl Valley GC is one of six preeminent Jack Nicklaus courses in the country and ranked the second-best course in South Africa. The majestic Simonsberg and Drakenstein mountains provide a backdrop for the acclaimed course where golfers and guests can discover ‘The Valley of Life.’ After your morning walking the fairways, you will have the afternoon at leisure to visit a wine farm or head back to Cape Towns’ Camps Bay promenade and enjoy a cocktail at one of the famous beach bars whilst relaxing with some sundowners to witness the glorious setting South African sun.
Recommendations: The famous V&A Waterfront is a treasure trove of sights, shopping and excellent eateries. If you are feeling energetic, a trip up the Table Mountain cable-car offers unbeatable vistas of the whole Cape Peninsula, or you can sit and soak up the city from the top of the open-air ‘Red Bus’ sightseeing bus. A self-drive or guided peninsula tour will take you from Cape Town to the surfing hamlet of Muizenberg, and then hug the coastal road all the way to Cape Point Nature Reserve. Highlights along the way include visiting our penguin friends at Boulders Beach, a meander through the quaint Kalk Bay village with the best mussels to be eaten at Olympia Café, seeing the military base in Simonstown and watching the sunset on the most visually spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive – all of which can be booked directly with the front desk.

Hermanus
DAY 5-7Crossing the scenic mountainous Sir Lowry’s pass onto the famous cliff path in the stunning town of Hermanus, The Marine Hotel offers breath-taking sea view rooms overlooking Walker Bay, trumped only when the Southern Right whale watching is in season. Famous for its picturesque villas and hotels, and seaside attractions such as shark cage diving and dazzling beach walks, Hermanus is a popular getaway location.
After checking in for three nights, Arabella will just be calling you! Surrounded by the magnificent Kogelberg range and Bot River Lagoon, the Arabella golf club welcomes you to explore one of the world’s richest floral reserves while pursuing your passion for golf.
The next day is privy to indulging in South African-esque wine tasting in the singular Hemel-en-Aarde wine region, home to over twenty fantastic family-owned wine producers. We recommend Creation for a lunch fit for the elite. The next day you can have at your own leisure – exploring the quaint town and its exciting seaside attractions; enjoying a relaxing spa day at The Marine’s Carchele Beauty Spa with a steam room and DermaLife capsule; and experiencing delectable cuisines at The Marine’s The Pavilion, Origins or Sun Lounge & Bar.

George (Fancourt)
DAY 8-10With an early morning flight to George to take you into the heart of the gorgeous, green Garden Route, you will adore three nights in the famous Manor House on the Fancourt estate. Dating back to the 1850s and once home to Henry Fancourt White, The Manor House is a 5-star, 18-suite boutique hotel. It delivers the luxury, quiet sophistication and romance of an exclusive country retreat – with warm and generous hospitality. It is here where you will get the opportunity to test your skills at The Links – home to the #1-rated golf course in South Africa. Fancourt and its courses lie at the base of the towering Outeniqua Mountains and are characterised by modern luxury, classic elegance and great diversity in golf courses. The namesake Outeniqua course and original Gary Player-designed Montagu course (ranked top twenty and top eight respectively) have earned their reputation for their layouts and challenges while taking in the beautiful scenery Fancourt has to offer. We recommend enjoying your evenings by exploring the small towns that surround George, filled with loads of charming restaurants and cafes.

Plettenberg Bay
DAY 11-13To wrap up the Garden Route and tour perfectly, make the picturesque mountainous-forests-and-cliffside drive to enjoy a three nights’ stay at the famous lookout point in Plettenberg Bay. Knysna and Plett are very popular for their captivating ancient forests; blue flagged beaches; nature reserves to enjoy and the famous Robberg hike. The Plettenberg hotel boasts beautiful views of the mountains, ocean and horizon from their rooms; and direct access to the beautiful golden sands forming the fan favourite Plett beaches. Enjoy their utterly calming Fresh Wellness Spa; and fresh seafood every day at the contemporary Seafood at The Plettenberg or stylish bar and lounge The Sandbar overlooking the Indian ocean.
To extend the sweetness of wrapping up the tour, you will have the privilege of playing the second Jack Nicklaus course at Simola Country Club and the world-class Pezula Golf Club overlooking the famous Knysna Heads. If you would prefer to stay in Plettenberg Bay, we would recommend swapping out your round of golf at Simola or Pezula to test your skills at Goose Valley. This Gary Player-designed course is situated on the doorstep of the Keurbooms Lagoon that overlooks the Robberg peninsula along the Indian Ocean and appreciates the Tsitsikamma mountains as a backdrop.
Recommendations: Knysna: take a drive to the Knysna Heads to witness the jaw-dropping views the east head has to offer. Yacht trip where you can sip on champagne and try the world-renowned Knysna Oysters. Plett: take out a few hours to visit the elephant park and wolf sanctuary to enjoy some of South Africa’s wildlife.
